  • Is creep data suitable and enough for shock test?

    Hello Dr. Jorgen
I want to do a shock analysis in Abaqus. I have only creep data. I also use MCalibration software to find and calibrate model constants. My question is that creep data is suitable and enough for shock test? I use creep data in Mcalibration and get material constants. Can i use these in Abaqus for shock test? Is that enough??

Yes, you can use creep data to calibrate a material model. But I recommend that you also perform additional experiments, for example: uniaxial tension (or compression) at different strain rates. These additional experiments will help with the material model calibration.

Once you have a calibrated material model then you can simulate the shock test.
