  • I trying to do a simulation in which two polymers side by side (with a gap) are compressed between two glasses. So, the prony series is for the simple linear elastic right . can I still use the prony series for the large deformation simulations.
  • Also I am experiencing element distortions while simulation in Ansys, I have tried changing sub steps to 100, tried mixed UP formulation, tried uniform reduced integration, but still experiencing high element distortions, can any one suggest me a a solution for this.

1. Yes, you can use a linear elastic material model (Prony series) at large deformations.

2. I would try full integration (not reduced integration). Sometime reduced integration can cause hourglassing.
