Hello mates. I need assistance on Abaqus.

I want to simulate a impulse force in a composite plate with damping

and on the same plate but adding a layer of viscoelastic material and

compare the temporal evolution of motion both cases. After reading the

manual I do not know how to introduce the viscoelastic material and how

to make a dynamic analysis taking into consideration the damping and

introducing impulsive force. If you have an example appreciated if

you send me. Thanks for your help

I dont have an example to send 🙁
but you can introduce linear viscoelastic damping rather easily using for example CAE.

Thanks Jorgen !
How I can send you the model I have to give me your opinion?

You can attach files to messages on this forum. But if possible, I generally recommend describing problems in words instead of attachments since it can take a long time to review files 🙁

Thaks Jorgen, I will try!

I want to know the response in time of a plate with a Viscoelastic material between two CFRP layers when a inpulsive load is applied using Abaqus.

1. I define the viscoelastic material in material module with:

a) Elastic (E, Nu)

b)Viscoelastic (Prony Series in time domain, g_i prony ,tau_i prony,K_i prony)

c) Density

d) Damping only using alpha

2. Steps

a) The initial in Abaqus

b) Step Visco with a duration of 0.5 s (the impulsive load is applied in this step)

c) Step Dynamics implicit with a duration of 10 s

What do you think about it? any suggestions? The problem is that I dont know if this is correct because

there is no example and everyone has doubts about this.

Thaks again !

I think it sounds great. The only thing I am unsure about is if the built-in linear viscoelastic material model can be used with Dynamic Implicit. You can always give it a try and read to dat-file for warning message (or just read the Users Manual).

Dr. Jorgen

Now I would like to simulate the cork as a viscoelastic material in Abaqus.

I will use Proni Series. But the problem are

1) Prony in time domain or in frequency domain?

2) how do I get the coefficients ?

3) what tests should I have to do?

Thank you very much !
