Hi Jorgen,

I am quite new to the entire FEA field (still an undergrad). As the topic states, i need to complete some analysis of CFRE however im not quite sure where to start. Since this is just a semester assignment, the lecturer has said that i can simplify the problem in ansys.

Just wondering what approach would you take if you were in my position.

Cheers,

Orrin

Is the goal to come up with a suitable material model for the CFRE, or to determine the response of some component made from that material?

In either case, I would develope a homogeneous material model representation. You can do that usign a rule-of-mixtures approach.

so would i just model a cube as the epoxy and then insert a few links which model the carbon fibre?

I have basically no experience with ANSYS and i just need a starting point

cheers,
Orrin

I think that sounds like a reasonable starting point. There are certainly more advanced and accurate techniques that can be used - but that might be more than you will have time to explore.

Hi,

So if i wanted to model an aeroplane wing, would i use the shell91 function or the shell99 function?

Cheers,

Orrin
