Hi,

I would like to calculate the residual stresses of a viscoelastic material during the curing stage using ABAQUS. I need some example problems and articles that I can easily reproduce their results. Any suggestions are highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Dania

Hi,

I do not have references to any academic work, but thought it would not harm if a method we have sometimes used is presented. This might or not be of some help.

Basically we determined experimentally the volumetric contraction of a polymer sample during cure. This was approximated by a function of volume contraction vs. temperature.

Then the data was input into a heat transfer transient analysis, with expansion coefficients determined from the experimenatal data in order to match the measured contraction.

We have not implemented viscoelastic properties but, in priciple, this seems feasible be done in the above mentioned framework.

Not sure this method is of any help, but still I thought I would point to it.

Have a nice weekend
