As we know, we can add prestress stress to some elements in ABAQUS by *NITIAL CONDITIONS, TYPE=STRESS. If we want to hold the stress in elements, it says that we can use *PRESTRESS HOLD. But I tried many times but failed.
1. I embedded truss element into solid element, I can add prestressing stress like pre-tensioning method but can not hold the stress like post-tensioning method.
2. Then I tried *NITIAL CONDITIONS, TYPE=STRESS, REBAR by surface element with rebar layer. I could add the stress to the rebar layer and even I could get the stress in rebar layer. But the girder did not deform like post-tensioned beam. Whats the problem? Does someone give me some idears? Thanks first!
Hmm, I have not tried to do what you are describing.
I am not sure why it did not work. Someone else with more info??

I have solved this problem by using Rebar layer.
