Dear all,

I want to develop a model with an adaptive mesh in Abaqus.

Basically Ill have a material that will suffer thermal expansion, and I want to avoid the elements to become too big.

What reading would you recommend me to begging with (either papers, Abaqus Manual, website tutorials, etc)?

Thank you,
Pereira

You can never go wrong by starting with manuals. I havent been able to find any papers or tutorials that show how to setup/run an adaptive mesh.

Additionally, what kind of keywords should I be paying attention?

I guess you want to remesh your object. if so, in STANDARD,you have to do it manually in abaqus, otherwise youll have to try your own script. for this, refer to mesh to mesh solution mapping in Abaqus/user manual and example manual.
if you want to get it done automatically, try your model in Explicit.

Best of luck.

P.S: user manual explains what you need to know about what youre going to do.
example manual illustrates these procedures and theory manual supports the scientific backgrounds if you wanna go deep in whats happening there. I think manuals will be sufficient for any work you will do.
Hope this was what you ere looking for.
