Hi,

I have recently developed a new thermo-mechanical constitutive model for polymeric material and would like to code it in ABAQUS. I have multiple questions about it but to start with I would like to ask how to use UMAT and UEXPAN together? And how to access strain tensor inside UEXPAN subroutine? Because, in Abaqus documentation, I do not see STRAN in the list of variables to be passed in for UEXPAN.

Any help in this regard is highly appreciated.

Thanks.

I recommend that you DO NOT use both of those at the same time. Instead add the thermal expansion code inside your UMAT code.

Hello Jorgen,

Could you please elaborate more on why it is better not use them together? The only issue I have found so far is that the temperature is slightly different inside the two subroutines.

Thanks,

Roshanak
