Simple constitutive law for ductile fracture with softening
Hello Dr Jorgen,
I am trying to model with abaqus the start of an avalanche with a simple model : strong elastic layer on weak elastoplastic layer. I would like to have a simple law for the second one : elastoplastic with softening (cf law.jpg) . Is it possible with one of the plastic laws proposed by Abaqus or do i need to write a UMAT ?
Thanks in advance
Johan
Is your graph in terms of engineering strain and stress, or true strain and stress?
- Jorgen
It is true stress and strain but I should have precised that i only want to describe the shear softening behavior of this weak layer... im not interested in the other components .
Johan
I dont think that the built-in plasticity models in Abaqus supports softening. I suspect that a UMAT/VUMAT is the way to go. I have a few UMAT/VUMAT subroutines that does what you are looking for.
