Hello everyone,

I was wondering how well the Bergstrom-Boyce model approximates material behavior when the material is subjected to extremely large strain rates, e.g. greater than 100 /s? Are there any references available which document this? I am looking to possible complete some SHPB tests and would like to use the data to calibrate the BB model.

Thanks,

Frank

The Bergstrom-Boyce (BB) model also works really well for very high strain rates (including SHPB rates).

Here is one reference that I shows the behavior:
S. J. Quintavalla and S. H. Johnson (2004) Extension of the Bergstrm-Boyce Model to High Strain Rates. Rubber Chemistry and Technology: November 2004, Vol. 77, No. 5, pp. 972-981.
