How to make an edge crack open in a 2D model in Abaqus?
Im modelling an RVE with an edge crack in ABAQUS to study crack propagation using the XFEM method. For some reason the crack is not opening, no matter what load or crack size I use. Could someone give me some ideas about why this could be happening?
Does the simulation crash, or does the RVE deform but no crack growth happen?

The RVE deforms but the crack doesnt open.
The RVE deforms but the crack doesnt open. Ive not even gone to the stage of crack growth yet.

[*]It can be quite difficult to get XFEM simulations to converge properly. That is something that marketing materials from the FE vendor does not mention.
[*]Depending on your material, you may not see any real crack opening before the crack wants to grow. I would activate crack growth righth away.

I tried enabling crack growth and that didnt seem to make a difference. Im attaching the model file for you to take a look if its a glitch on my end.
