Dynamic Loading Elastomers - Constitutive Modeling Review
I will be giving a presentation about how to perform accurate finite element simulations of the dynamic loading response of elastomers and rubbers at the upcoming 2008 Abaqus Users' Conference. My presentation will review how different constitutive models such as hyperelasticity (neo-Hookean), linear viscoelasticity, and the Bergstrom-Boyce model, can predict the storage modulus E' and the loss modulus E" as a function of strain amplitude and frequency. I will also present the predictions of a new constitutive model, the dynamic Bergstrom-Boyce (DBB) model, which is more accurate than any of the built-in models. The DBB constitutive model is available as a user-material model.
