    Drucker-Prager for PTFE?

    Hi,

I'm about to model a PTFE component that will experience only compression. I don't have the means to afford a refined constitutive model so I have to stick with one already implemented in ABAQUS.

An ordinary J2-plasticity model would maybe be the obvious choice, but then the influence of hydrostatic pressure is neglected. Has anybody had any success with the Drucker-Prager model? It includes the I1 invariant which I feel has some importance in polymers. Besides, does anybody have a suggestion for a suitable value for K?

    Best regards,
    wort

I don't think I have used the Drucker-Prager model for PTFE, but there is no reason why you cannot evaluate its performance as long as you are mindful of its limitations.
