I am new comer here, and most my background is on CFD, I am working on a project for FEA---needle piercing a silicone rubber to investigate the internal pressure at the piercing process. I use ANSYS Mechanical (workbench) here and i set a displacement on the needle, and put fixed support on the side of the rubber. Contacts was set on the needle rubber contact surface. Here are some questions, some may be silly:
1. Is the boundary setting appropriate?
2. Is it correct that the internal pressure along the needle tip would be the equivalent stress?
3. How could I make the convergence better? I can get convergence when the displacement is small but cannot get convergent when I increase the displacement to some larger value.
4. Does anybody have some tutorials on the piercing process simulation?
