How to add adhesion (surface force) beween indentor and elastic thin film

    Dear friends
I am ravi dalmeya doing Phd from IIT Kanpur , India. I wants to add adhesion (surface force ) between indentor ( cylinder) and elastic thin film using ABAQUS software and then want to know the contact area between indentor ( cylinder) and elastic thin film. I know different cohesive model and also know user defined element (UEL) but do not know how to implement this between indentor and elastic thin film . Hope for positive response.

    Thanking you

  2. I am not sure about your question: Are you trying to define an interaction between the indentor and the elastic film? What has that got to do with a UEL? All you need to do is define some sort of contact formulation between the two surfaces, isn't that so?

Thanks for reply. Contact area is more in case of adhesive force . I have completed the problem without adhesion (called Hertz problem). Now i want to include the adhesion between indentor and elastic film and want to to see its effect on contact area. No doubt contact area is more in case of adhesion.
