Elements type for Contact Problems - Abaqus

    Hello all,

For problems involving material contact is it suitable to just use continuum elements (i.e. CPE4I), or is it more suitable to use contact modelling elements such as "gap contact element" (i.e. GAPCYL) which I have never seen in abaqus 6.9-1 and don't know of it being used in contact problems. Feedback would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

Traditional continuum elements are usually fine!
