Thread: Strain-rate-dependent E.

    Strain-rate-dependent E.

Hi, I'm modeling a polymer impact-test in abaqus using *Elastic and *Plastic commands, I have stress-strain curves at different strain rates.

I can input stress-strain data on *Plastic using "Use strain-rate-dependent data" option.

How can I input strain-rate dependent Young's Modulus on *Elastic??

    Thank you.

    I don't believe you can...

    Yes, this is possible.
Read the user subroutine manual, chapter on USDFLD. You can proceed in the same way and make the modulus depend on ER, the mechanical strain rate components.

Frank is right - It can be done. Although I don't think it is good general approach in material modeling.
