    ANSYS 12: Bergstrom-Boyce Model

I just learned that ANSYS 12 now has built-in support for the Bergstrom-Boyce model. This happens to be a model that I developed a few years ago when I was at MIT and worked with Professor Mary Boyce.

I would be curious to hear peoples comments on how the ANSYS implementation of this model is working. Have anyone tried it out yet?

I would be interested in hearing feedback on your experience!

    Jorgen,
I was very happy to hear that the BB model is available in V12 ANSYS Workbench. We should be upgrading to it in the next few months. I plan to use it extensively! I will certainly pass along feedback as soon as I have some to share!
    Regards,

Ansys talked about it during their visit to our company a couple of months ago. they said that it was for modeling mullins effect, which is correct. they are coming again in a few weeks. i personally have not used BB model yet, but would be glad ask them if anyone would like to ask anything specific.

    Hi hhspiny,

Good to hear from you again!
I cannot think of any specific questions at the moment, but I will let you know if I do.

    Thanks,

    Hello,

from the ANSYS Help I read the

    1) BB Model as modeling viscoelastic hysteresis in elastomers, changing the amount of hysteresis depending on actual strain rate
    2) Mullins the change in the (hysteresis affected) stress-strain (loop) curve of elastomers, across repeated load/unload cycles

My question the the Ansys people would be, were to find a ANSYS example for model 1)
Model 2) is somewhat exercised in VM268 of ANSYS 12.1 Help

    Thanks.
    HF
