Hi Everybody
I need an anisotropic VUMAT for arterial FE modeling using ABAQUS (based on fung's model or Holzapfel's). I have no experience with user defined material subroutines so at start its quite hard for me to get going. I would appreciate if anybody could give me a hint if such a VUMAT is available somewhere or a good example that could help and encourage me fire up my engine. I would also be very happy to start a collaboration and possibly have publications with somebody with an expertie in this field in arterial mechanics.
Wish you all success.

I am happy to let you know that the latest version of Abaqus (v6.8) contains native support for both the Fung and the Holzapfel-Gasser-Ogden anisotropic hyperelastic models.

I suggest that you check them out to see if they are accurate enough for your needs. I would also be happy to collaborate with you on developing an anisotropic viscoelastic model for arteries.

Hi Jorgen,
That is great!
I just emailed my supervisor to see if we can upgrade our abaqus version to
v6.8. We have allready prepared a paper with explicit that takes advantage of really great capabilities specifically in contact which is a real pain with implicit approach in all packages. We will be more than happy to collaborate with you to develope our own user difined meterial subroutines as we are 4 phd students in our lab who are all chalenging arterial F.E modeling and user defined subroutines, so any collaboration will be fruitfull and will lead to many publications.
Best Regards
