hi all,
my problem is:
i have a clutch made of elastomer (konstant shear strain). the load is a sinusoidal moment of rotation. i use hyperlasticity with viscoelasticity.
abaqus has a funktion to evaluate the material (hyperelasticity) when you fit it with experimental test data.
my question is: can i use test data from a quasi static load of moment of rotation? is this test data uniaxial (everywhere in clutch is the shear stress konstant)?
what do i have to attend?
thank you!

If I understand you right, you want to determine the hyperelastic parameters for a rubber based on shear test data at quasi-static conditions. That should be an OK approach.

What data do you intend to use to determine the viscoelastic properties?

hello dr Bergstrom,
yes, i want to determine hyperelastic parameters from a shear test, and i wanted to know if it is an uniaxial test data in my case (i thing it is).
to determine viscoelastic test data i do dynamic tests to get a hysteresis (M vs. phi). then i try to get a similar/congruent hysteresis from abaqus by changing g_i-prony and tau_i-prony in the time domain. in the end i compare the loss or the starage modulus from tests with abaqus. if the hysteresis are similar i look what happens in abaqus when i change the frequency or the amplitude (is the hysteresis still similar to my tests?). thatīs my task.
do you think my way of thinking is right?
or what do you propose to do to determine viscoelastic propertis?

thank you!

I think your approach sound fine.
Best of luck.
