Plotting density contour in ABAQUS

Dear all:

I am doing FEA in ABAQUS 6.6.1, the model consists of many solid sections, each with different density values. What I need to do is, plotting the density contour showing the density distribution, does anyone know how to do that in ABAQUS CAE?

I was faced with the same problem at one time. What I ended up doing was to assign the density also as a field variable. That is, I assigned each element the density, and then I also assigned that value as a field variable to that element.

I could then use CAE to plot a contour graph of the field variable.
There might be other approaches that also work...
