Hi, ALL

I need some help on weld two nodes in AQAQUS. The job I want to do is this: To close a defect ( a hole ) in a rubber, I need to weld the nodes on the edge of the defect together, but I do not know how to define that in ABAQUS.

Let me explain the question in another way, suppose you are a surgeon and need to close a dimond shape wound on a patient, you stretch the edge of the wounds (which there are a lot of nodes on them) and then you suture the wound edges together ( weld the paired nodes together). I have no idea about how to do the "welding" part of two nodes in ABAQUS.

Thank you for all your helps.

If you want to close the hole at time=0, then you can use the *Tie command.

If you want close the hole at a later time, then you can apply appropriate surface forces (or displacements). If you also activate contact then you should be able to simulate "welding the nodes together".

HI,

I think FSW is quite different from laser beam welding. Although both of them are joining process, the mechanism of FSW is far away from the traditional arc welding. So before your start, please decide which branch you should choose because both are not so easy to study. For FE simulation, I only carried out FEM calculation of arc welding, such as TIG, MIG and Laser. I highly recommend you to read Goldak's first paper of double eclipsoid welding pool model..

Thank you...
