I am using ABAQUS version 6.5. Before I approach the guys at HKS, I thought I could ask you if you knew how do the following in ABAQUS:

1) I wish to constrain a node (or a bunch of nodes), and I cannot seem to find out how to do this using ABAQUS CAE. I think the NSET function is used but how can I choose a specific node in CAE and constrain it about all three axes?

2) Do you know how to setup a Periodic Boundary Condition in ABAQUS CAE? E.g. for a planar problem, I wish to have one side (set) of the node move exactly the same as the other side (set) of nodes.

Thanks for your help,

(1) I recommend that you first create a node set, and then simply apply the boundary condition on that node set in the BC module.

(2) To get repeated/periodic BCs you need to use the *Equation command. I am not sure, however, if the *Equation command is available in CAE (you should check the manual).

Thanks. By setting the constraint equation, I was able to get a periodic boundary condition.

How to add a dummy node? there are errors....

Thanks. By setting the constraint equation, I was able to get a periodic boundary condition.
