Good Morning Dr Bergstrom,

I am currently working with some EVA foam materials and have been testing them in order to provide test data for an FEA model.

We are interested in using Creep data as a mechanism in the model, yet I am having difficulty determining the creep compliance from the load extension data.

Please can you offer me some advise on calculating creep compliance so that I can make use of my data within the model.

Kind Regards,
Chris Baker

Hello Chris,

Can you explain in more detail what type of experimental data you have?
There are different ways to extract the creep compliance depending on what experimental data you have.

Also, how are you planning on using the extracted creep data? Will you be using a linear viscoelastic model with hyperelastic (hyperfoam) model?

Hello Jorgen,

I carried out creep tests in Tension using and Instron Tensile test machine.

The software recorded the extension of the sample whilst being held at a constant engineering stress. I also have the load data and the engineering strain data from the tests.

I am planning on using the hyperelastic model with the visco option, and have been considering the use of Prony series data.

I hope this information makes my query clearer and i look forward to reading your response,

Regards,
Chris
