Dear Jorgen,

I am interested in modelling the multiaxial response of thermoplastics (PP, HDPE) undergoing impact situations such as those found in a car-crash (strain rates between 102 and 103 s-1).

My experimental data will be falling weight and tensile-impact test results.

Do you think the TNM or PNM models will be appropriate for these particular conditions?. Otherwise, which model would you suggest for this application?

Thank you very much in advance.
Regards, Juan.

Good question. I often use both the TNM and the PNM for impact simulations - they both usually work very well.

If you don't want to use those (advanced) models, then you are stuck with standard metal plasticity models with rate-dependence.

Best of luck,
Jorgen
