Hello All:

I was simulating a rather simple case with hyperelastic material model with stress_strain data from three mode tests, simple, planar, and biaxial tension tests. The input load was a time history displacement mimicking a ramped displacement and then a hold. However, the response stress history did not show any sight of relaxation at all. I then tried to simplify matter further by using linear elastic isotropic material model with E, mu, and stress_strain data from a simple tension test. I still did not see any stress relaxation in the polymer at all. By the way, I was using ANSYS WB 11.0. Thanks in advance so much for your helps and advices.

Jeff.

It sounds like you performed a FE simulation using a hyperelastic material model and then did not see any stress relaxation. Is that true? It so, your results are completely normal. The Elastic and Hyperelastic material models are completely time-independent.

Hi Dr. Bergstrom:

That is correct. I used hyperelastic model in the simulation. Thanks so much for your advice.
