Hello,
I am continuing with my riveting analysis. I have a hyperelastic material between two aluminum plates compressed by a rivet. I ran an analysis in explicit with distortion control (the hyperelastic material gets distorted excessively) by defining a smooth amplitude curve for the displacement ramping it over the step time in one step.
In the second step I want the model to unload (sort of like springback). I am not sure how exactly to apply the step in explicit. Should I ramp down the amplitude to zero over a short period of time ?
Since I am not sure about this I was thinking of importing the analysis to standard and analyzing the unload step with standard. I read the manual on this and the examples. I tried out an example and it works. But I did one simple analysis got all the results files and stuff. Then tried running the import file but it doesent work at all. Does one have to create the original explicit file manually only for import analysis? Since my model is compliaceted its difficult to create it manually so I am using CAE.
Can one import results for hyperelastic metarials between explicit and standard (I am not too clear on that one) since standard reqiuires hybrid elements.
Here is the error message while importing. Any help woul dbe appreciated. I am a relatively new user to abaqus so I apologise for the questions.

***ERROR: The restart (.res) and results (.fil) files are not organized as an
assembly of part instances. Therefore, some options that read data
from these files currently cannot be used in models defined in terms
of an assembly of part instances. IMPORT is one of them.

Hello Amar,

If you got the loading to work with explicit, I suspect that you should also be able to get the unloading to work. Just use the unloading approach that you described. It will probably be much easier to do both the loading and loading steps either in Standard or in Explicit, and not attempt to switch between the two. The error message that you quoted also seems to indicate this.
